Classically trained in art in her native Iran, Golsa Yaghoobi grew up during the Iran-Iraq war, living daily with the horrors of modern warfare waged upon civilian populations. Although her primary medium had been traditional Persian motif watercolor, she is now working in oil and print making media Golsa's work addresses her feelings of horror and uncertainty from the war which are in conflict with feelings of stability and constancy from a childhood rooted in and ancient society and family tradition. She continues her explorations in the context of the freedoms she has found in America as a woman and an artist. |
