John Newman is presently Associate Professor of Art at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he has taught since 1991.

John is recipient of numerous grants and awards and is known primarily for his prints and drawings.

His work reflects a very personal response to larger and immediate issues and events that affect people. Usually, he begins with a drawing which is the vehicle for his immediate responses and serves as basis for later and fuller expression on paper or canvas.

John's work is thus very personal and he shares it fully aware that others may not concur with his personal observations and reflections.
